Paths in life

In life, once on a path, we tend to follow it, for better or worse. What's sad is that even if it's the latter we often accept it anyway because we are so accustomed to the way things are that we don't even recognize that they could be different.

This is a phenomenon psychologists call functional fixedness. It stops you from thinking in new ways. Or as a current saying goes, thinking "outside of the box".

I'd develop this more but, all my friends would think I was talking about them. When I'm just trying to make me a better person.
